In Case of Emergency

25 Oct

Everyone’s had one of those days where they could use a kind word, no matter what it is or who it comes from. Sometimes you just need a silly little compliment to make you smile.

Let me introduce you to Megs Senk, a designer at W+K 12 and your new best friend.

She’s created this amazingly straightforward and cheer-inducing website, Emergency Compliment. A clean modern design featuring cheeky little phrases, this is sure to brighten your day. If the first compliment doesn’t do the trick, keep clicking through. There are a TON of phrases, and when you hit upon one that you like, you can purchase a print of it from Society6.

Flyin’ High

1 May

Have I ever mentioned that I am totally obsessed with the flying trapeze?

Well, I am. Completely, totally, head-over-heels (sometimes literally) obsessed.

The addiction started when I treated my bff and I to a lesson as a birthday gift for her. We had heard about classes, so I signed us up. As you can imagine, the adrenaline of jumping off a ledge practically exploded my mind and body. It got easier and easier to make the jump, and by the end of the class, we were racing to sign up for more.

Since then, I’ve been back a number of times. I’m getting better and am always impressed and awed by the skill of so many of the students.

With the insanity and stress of this summer’s workload, I knew that I needed some sort of midweek mental release. After double-checking with my awesome husband, I signed up for an 8-week flying trapeze workshop. It starts tonight and I can’t focus on anything else. As part of the workshop, we’ll be taped (recorded? DVD-ed?) so we can watch ourselves and see what we need to improve upon. If I can somehow figure out how to post them on YouTube, I’ll share my progress with you!
